BCPBL Lawrie goes in Round 1 to Milwaukee Brewers

Brett Lawrie of the BCPBL Langley Blaze became the highest drafted Canadian baseball positional player ever when he was selected in the 16th position of the 1st round at the 2008 MLB First Year Players Draft by the MILWAUKEE BREWERS. Brett skyrocketed up the pre-draft rankings due to his dominating performance with the Canadian Junior National team in the Dominion Republic and private workouts with many of the major league clubs. He became the 5th highest high school player to be selected in this year's draft.

Lawrie, in his final year in the BCPBL, has spent most of this season with the Canadian Junior National Team and showcasing his talents around North America. BLE co-owner, Marty Lehn, who is also the Western Canadian Scout for the Milwaukee Brewers, said that “Brett did absolutely everything he needed to do in the final weeks leading up to the draft, and it was not hard convincing Brewer’s management that Brett should be our first pick.” For additional info regarding Brett Lawrie and the recent MLB draft, visit:
