Pro Baseball Scouts and College recruiters made their way to Kamloops this past weekend to lock in on the best baseball players that Western Canada has to offer. The Big League Experience Baseball Camp once again hosted its annual KR3 “Best of the West” Premier baseball tournament in Kamloops this past weekend in which representatives from 12 different Major League clubs and 6 colleges were in attendance. It was a 10 team tournament that included teams from both sides of the Rockies and players from Nanaimo, B.C. to Regina, Saskatchewan and all in between. In the past many of those Canadians drafted into professional and college baseball have participated in this tournament including the likes of Brett Lawrie and Justin Morneau. When asked “why the attraction to this baseball tournament”?, the tournament director and Western Canadian scout for the Milwaukee Brewers Marty Lehn commentated, “it’s a one stop shop as we’re able to check out Western Canada’s best baseball talent in one location”. Was there another major leaguer mixed into this year’s mix………. Well maybe, maybe a few, we’ll have to wait and see.
