Best of the West Fall Classic Qualifier
Big League Experience to host “Best of the West” Fall Classic Qualifier
The Big League Experience will be hosting the “Best of the West” qualifier tournament to be held in Kamloops, B.C. from Sept. 21 – 25. This Qualifier is a very competitive tournament that is the only avenue for teams that have not qualified to qualify for the “Best of the West” Showcase tournament being held in early April 2017 in Kamloops. The Showcase event is a tournament that is scouted by a number of MLB teams and college baseball programs and considered to be the #1 baseball scouted tournament in Western Canada prior to the draft. Such MLB players as Ryan Dempster, Justin Morneau, Jeff Francis, Rene Tosoni and Brett Lawrie to name a few along with many present professional players have all participated in this tournament that also includes 100’s of those moving on into the college ranks.
From last year’s tournament 6 teams are given an automatic birth based on how they finished in the 2016 tournament and those teams included for the 2017 tournament are: Last year’s champions Okotoks Dawgs along with the Edmonton Prospects, Vauxhall Academy, Langley Blaze, North Shore Twins and BLE Selects. The remainder of the teams will come from the fall Qualifier and another at large bid.
The tournament will start on Wednesday, Sept. 21st with a few games in the lower mainland as White Rock Tritons will host the Chilliwack Cougars and the Whalley Chiefs hosting the Coquitlam Reds with the remainder of games all being played at McArthur Island in Kamloops. 11 teams will battle for the last few spots and along with the four previous mentioned teams the field will be rounded out with the Absolute Baseball Academy, SFX Academy and Badlands Academy all from Alberta and the Okanagan A’s, Victoria Mariners, Mid Island Pirates and Abbotsford Cardinals from BC.

Along with the Fall Classic Qualifier there will also be a Bantam Fall Classic tournament as well that will include 8 teams from BC and Alberta: A great opportunity for the Bantam players to participate in a competitive tournament along with watching the Midget guys get after it. The Bantam teams will include a mix of 4 teams from Alberta; SFX Academy, Parkland Twins, Absolute Baseball Academy and the Calgary Coyotes along with 4 from BC; Okanagan A’s, Mid Island Pirates, Kamloops River Dogs and Coquitlam Reds.
